Other Writing

In addition to writing the detective/movie review series, I’m offering other writing I have done and will do in the future.

bostonlegal_dvd A damn good show that was taken off the air too soon.

Kicking this section off is my television spec script of the show Boston Legal. It was part of the samples I’d circulate to potential agents, managers and producers as an audition to showcase my writing talent. Since this show has ended (it’s no longer in production), the script isn’t viable within Hollywood circles anymore. The good news is I can share it with anyone who wants to read it.

The script entailed: “Business, Always Personal” takes advantage of the great chemistry and comedy between Denny Crane and Alan Shore. They were great characters to try my hand at using farce as an engine to accelerate their particular story line. The theme overall suggests no matter how many go by the cliché “it’s not personal, just business,” the rational is either naive or disingenuous (in other words, lying). Deep down, most business decisions are made from a personal gripe, advantage or revenge. Believe me, I’ve been through some of those “just business” situations. It sure felt personal to me. This script explores some of those hidden agendas.

Enjoy!

Television Online Journal (aka my other blog)

I recently started another blog. This time, I’m rambling about the small screen. It’s not about who’s dating who or which reality contestant got kicked off. It’s about my thoughts on television, the craft of television. You know, the characters, the plots, the season arcs. That stuff that glues our butts to our couches each and every week (unless you DVR it for later). I also share my process in writing specs, character studies (not there yet, but coming soon – I promise), basically anything that comes to mind.

Check it out. :)
